Guys, I remember reading somewhere about an Ill. unit that drew mounted service jackets and took the tape off (cant find it now for the life of me). Could someone with some more incite than myself tell me how appropriate a modified mounted service jacket would be for an impression or where to find such info? I know SA and state jackets were prevalent in the west but you don't hear to much about this. Input is appreciated. Respectfully, Ryan Johnson

Ryan, There isn't a line drawn between east and west as far as jackets go it's more a less a game of time period, and even then true history throws a curve the way of the Hardkewls.

Sometimes I wonder how many of those untrimmed and detrimmed MSJ assumptions aren't the SA infantry coat, and the photo interpretation is just a little out of calibration. This garment is often mislabeled as a "signal corps jacket."
Any thoughts? Especially for those images where the collars aren't in focus.....
