Just to throw this up real quick, here are the events that we are planning on so far in the year. There's plenty of room during the spring/summer and we'll probably be looking for some things to fill the time. Not everything listed is a federal impression event, but I figured I should mention what we would be up to in case others are interested in joining our endeavors. I'll include links to the events and locations later, just wanted to throw this down. But so far, here she goes.
Shiloh LH weekend April 2-4 We'll be dressing in civilian recreation duds and having a "civilian hike" through the property for most of the weekend. Therefore we'll most likely avoid areas with drilling and the whole "show". If any of you would like to have an excuse to cover all the off roads and deep trails of Shiloh..........here's your chance.
In The Van / August 1-7 We're really not sure exactly what we are going to do at this event. Not really big fans of the "militia" idea or impressions that seem to follow. When doing impressions like these one has to rely on their imagination to fill in the material details.........which is one of the highest perks of doing regular federal infantry, the documentation. Considering how both the federal and confederate forces at this event are going for the same look of Civilian/ Militia, it's hard to figure out what to do. Seems to me that of course the Confederate scenario is more interested and good ole Joe would love any extra recruits for his force. Then again, I think militia looks amongst reenactors is often silly. Don't know how to NOT look silly.
Outpost event "Before the Breakout" Sept.10-12 Rome, Georgia We'll be doing federal, we might see about falling in with Joe Liechty of Mess #1.
Battle of Davis Mills October 1-3 We already have some discussion on this event in separate folder under the "2010" moniker. So yeah, all the details are there.
Westville, GA "Struggles of secession" Oct. 20-24 Going to be contacting Jim Butler soon to see what type of civilian roles are available this go around. Tim and I went to the one 2 years ago and it was one of the most unique and memorable events we had ever done. A rare opportunity to do a male civilian role in a huge 1840's town.
Ft. Donelson (Twin Rivers) Nov. 11-14 ; Collierville,TN Will most definitely be helping out the federal campaigner contingent.

authentic-campaigner.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25986&highlight=franklin (website coming soon) April 16, 17 and 18 2010. "Due to the cancellation of Perryville and the fact some had requested time off, the Independent Rifles are hosting a Living History in Franklin, TN. This event is set up as a mobile living history and while it will not be totally devoid of modern intrusions, it will be very heavy with historical discussions from local historians, our fellow reenactors and the chance to view original items from the Battle of Franklin. Our march route will be from Carnton to the Carter House, with several stops through town along the advance Federal line planned for the day. We will be conducting several demos at each of the two key sites. This is a Federal and Confederate Living History. Federal Participants are limited to 15 confirmed Federals and 85 confirmed Confederates. We intended to have a Confederate only event, but at the request of the Director (Eric Jacobson, Carnton Carter House), we are currently working on finding 15 Federal volunteers. Email me for a copy of the registration form and packet. The packet also encloses a suggested reading list. westernpicket63@yahoo.com" - Patrick Landrum So, I, Jon Harris, and my South Union Guards plan to be out in full force as Confederates but it would sure be neat to see some fellow Mid South and Wid West folks in the blue. I don't think I have to say this but Franklin has NEEDED this sort of event for some time now. Would be great if the public walked away changed and charged for preservation. What do we say?

Here's the event website for the Franklin LH.. www.westernindependentgrays.org/franklin2010/I guess they're pretty serious about a very specific impression; (Weapons- Only the rifles listed below will be allowed on the federal side: 1. Spencer Rifle 2. Henry Rifle 3. Colt Revolving Rifle 4. Sharps Rifle) Hope those interested can swing it by then. A number of men were able to borrow repeaters for recent events. If you're wanting to attend I'll keep my ears peeled. If you're interested in purchase I can get you in touch with someone. For what it's worth. Take Care.

Also, Yeah, I know I know..
My mess mates and I have been asked by Jim Butler (SRR) and Sean Cooper (MCM), to raise a Federal company for next year's installment of the infamous 'outpost' events'. Here's the lowdown:
From WIG website: "Sept 10-12 2010 - Location - Rome Georgia. Sponsor/Host: WIG/SCAR. Our other main WIG event for 2010 will be the Outpost style event we are co-hosting with the SCAR. This event will be modeled on the original Outpost events from 1999 and 2000. We will be portraying the period between the Battles of Chickamauga and Lookout Mountain. The WIG will be leading the Confederate forces which will be portraying the 45th Alabama. The SCAR will be leading the Federal forces. Their impression has yet to be determined. A website will be forth coming. Contact Tripp Corbin - trippcor@bellsouth.net or Jim Butler - unionguy1@comcast.net for more information."
Not much has been posted as of yet and there is no website still. A few AC threads and some heresay is all I have. I'll keep everyone posted. I can pass on the word when email list time comes around if anyone's interested.
Thanks for having me.

As the captain of the infantry company at In the Van, I would like to see all you boys come out. It will be a tough event, but the satisfaction you have at the end will be worth it all.
I'd also like to point out the Twin Rivers mainstream event next November. Yeah, it is mainstream, but ... it is pretty close for most of us, there is an organized campaigner element that you can support, and I will be the brigade sutler to the Western Brigade along the same lines as the old AoP sutler. Bring Cash!!
My list for next year includes: Landrum's Vicksburg, LBL with Blunt's company, In the Van in all my officer glory, WIG Outpost in September, delivering the mail at Westville and sutlering at Twin Rivers.
Any more and my wife would lock me out of the house.

Just re-reading this thread and noticed Preston's comments on In the Van. I'd like to clarify a bit on the impression.
Any US participation is extremely limited.
The 57th Georgia is not a militia impression. They were in CS service but there is no record of a uniform issue. Considering how little is known of what they really had and looking at some images of other CS regiments in that area at roughly the same time, the decision to lean heavily on civilian clothing seemed reasonable.
Also, the structure for the CS impression is a single company of infantry. There was no need to have a bunch of companies organized into a battalion. This event is not about fighting battles or outnumbering the enemy and we saw no reason for a bunch of officer types clogging the drain. I'm a big enough turd to do that on my own!
I've posted some comments on the AC regarding things I've heard about the August heat. To summarize: 85 ain't that hot, get over it. Don't wear your wool frock coat. We won't march between 2 and 5 in the afternoon. We won't go more than a few miles on any given day.
I think that about covers it. The event is going to something you won't see again, most likely. If you can swing that week off, do it. You won't regret it.
