Mar Your calendars for March 2010
Most of the primary individuals who were instrumental in coordinating the previous events at the Land Between the Lakes site, have begun planning for a return to this great area.
The previous event which saw the Federals commanded by Steve Acker against the Confederates commanded by John Duffer, used an area approximately 5,000 square acres in size.
For the event in march of 2010, we are looking at 28,000 acres to play with.
We are looking at the activities of the advancing units as Sherman began his move from Chattanooga towards Atlanta, and the numerous smaller engagements that took place in the Spring of 1864 in the N. Ga area as his move towards Atlanta began.
Event Date: March 2010 (Exact dates to be determined, once final coordination with the park service is accomplished)
Location: Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area (Located between the sites of Historic For Donelson and Fort Henry on the Tn/Ky border. Sponsor/Host: Independence Mess (The same folks who were part of the MOOCOWS who hosted the previous LBL events) Capacity:TBA POC: Josh Fieldhouse, Brian Hicks or Bill Little Email: joshef@gmail.com, brian_hicks@usa.net, william.littleii@us.army.mil Website: TBA Forum: A/C Forum Subforum to be established

Tim and I are heading out to LBL tomorrow morning. And here's the real surprise...........................................................we're going SECCESH!!!
This will mark what I think is the first time ever that we have done confederate at an authentic event. Done plenty of johnny in the ole days, but not at tactical with guidelines.
Don't worry, we'll try not to make a habit out of it. Still full time federals!!

Overall, the event was very realistic. It was cold, wet, long marches, commands and commanders many felt were stupid, in short we were miserable. Our company's consensus was that the fires of hell would've been a welcome relief to the cold, rain, and pitch dark nights. It gave one a new appreciation for what the original cast went through. Unfortunately, I could not make the march Sunday, as my right knee was roughly the size and shape of a grapefruit. It did allow me to have some interesting firper with the Feds when they came through. BTW: Timothy and Preston, y'all looked like shit. Great Impression!

What's with the sad face Ryan? Timothy thinks it's because you weren't with us. You crazy little ground hornet you. Can you believe this?

I guess Timothy and I broke our streak as being full time federals for practically 9 years solid. Although the thought of doing really ragged, worn down, realistic looking reb impressions had been on our mind the whole time. I use to nag every now and then how the confederate impressions going around were to clean and flashy. This was a situation of "putting your money where your mouth is". It was damn fun.

The tree seems to be a big hit as well.... I've had people comment on the tree and say nothing about the people in the pic. It's also funny that Nic blends in to the background and is rarely noticed on the ground.
