Funny, I come over from the right side (counter clockwise) instead of the left side of the needle on my loop and it seems to work for me.

yeah, I have sewn them in either direction. As long as you keep in the same direction, you're good.
Caelan just learned the overcast stitch a few minutes ago... I will let her get that perfected then teach either the blanket or button hole next. She is blown away at how easy it all is. She has been proud that she does a backstitch and does not use knots. Haha.... Makes me feel bad about my early sewing skills.
She was also just trash-talking Gods and Generals too. Blu-ray combined with the larger screen makes for a frustrated little girl. I've created a monster.
